What are your plans after graduation?

Entrepreneur (starting your own business)

Why did you join SHPE UCSC?

Although I practice art and am going to school for art, I have always had an interest in technology and finding out how things work.

What is your favorite SHPE memory (or memories)?

Being able to provide input in the coding for the car racing challenge. I saw how my thinking, when applied practically, was correct when it comes to things I don’t have much experience in. It also gave me a confidence boost when being in environments that are not my forte and speaking my mind.

How has SHPE helped you throughout your college career?

The confidence to approach different circumstances. It also introduced me to other “Hispanic” students on campus who were pursuing majors in the field that are underrepresented in the department.

What will you miss most about UCSC?

The trees. I came here to be close to the environment. I’m gonna miss walking through the forest.

Is there any research, project, or any other achievement during your time as a student that you would like to share?

Of all my achievements, I think getting better acquainted with myself was my greatest.

Is there anyone (student, family, friend, staff, faculty, etc) that you would like to thank that helped you make it to this point?

I would like to thank everyone I encountered on my journey. To all those who wished me the best, and to those who wished I would fail.

Do you have any advice for SHPE undergrad members?

Don’t be afraid to spend time alone. If things go back to normal and you get to be on campus, wander through the trails. Test your might. The nature has been around for hundreds of years, you can learn a thing or two from them.

Anything else you would like to add?

Best of luck with your time here. It really does fly by. But it also takes a looooong asssss time.
